Greatest Hits of 2019: Most Popular Digital Content from the Archives

Last week (and last year already), we shared our most popular archival collections in 2019. We are switching from analog to digital this week. To be on the upside for the highlights of 2019, we ran a popularity contest of the digital content digitized from the archives in the San Francisco History Center and the San Francisco Historical Photograph Collection. Currently, the San Francisco Public Library has digitized content spread across a number of platforms (but we'll have a new Digital Asset Management System aka DAMS in 2020) so we have pulled it all together for you here.

Most watched digitized audiovisual items from our content in California Light and Sound in 2019:

First place =  Skyline Hike Over the Muir Trail, 1947, 16mm film
Second place = Giant Trees of California, 1912, 22mm film
Third place from our I. Magnin & Co. Records = I. Magnin Palm Stores Opening Fashion Show, 1985, 3/4 inch videotape

Most viewed digitized books from the San Francisco History Center in 2019:

First place = San Francisco Numerical Numerical Directory, 1939-1940
Second place = Numerical Telephone Directory, 1935-1936
Third place = Who's Who in California, 1942-1943

First and second place resources are helpful resources for those doing San Francisco building research - you can look up an address to see who the occupant was in that year.
