ILLUSTRATED At Last

Alastair Johnston recently revised his article on The Robert Grabhorn Collection on the History of Printing and Development of the Book at The San Francisco Public Library.

 Mechanick Exercises (Joseph Moxon, 1683)

Practical Hints on Decorative Printing, detail  (William Savage, 1822)

We took the opportunity to illustrate it.
Now, for the first time, readers can virtually tour the Grabhorn collection courtesy of Johnston's article, only now it is accompanied with plenty of visuals.

If these few images have whet your appetite,
be sure to take a look at the revised website
In addition, you can download and print a PDF of the article for more convenient reading.

And, of course, please feel free to come by the
Book Arts & Special Collections Center anytime to experience the real thing.
Enjoy!
