HEAVY READING AHEAD
Schools all over the land are opening and two newcomers to classrooms get a preview of all the reading that lies ahead of them in the next 12 years. The new first graders are Dennis Noto and Roseanna Orihuela. They don't seem to be frightened by the pile of typical textbooks -- approximately 340 of them -- that represents in graphic form their studies during their schoolyears ahead. Both are enrolled at the Robert E. Lee Elementary school here and will begin to tear into that tower of tomes before long.
The Library owns the photo morgue of the San Francisco News-Call Bulletin, a daily newspaper that covered the time period from the 1920’s to 1965. Much of the San Francisco History Collection comes from the News-Call Bulletin morgue. However, the morgue also includes national and international subjects that have not been digitized or cataloged.

  1. I love how dapper they are! Is that little boy really in the picture? His head looks a little "cut-out."
