Walt Disney in San Francisco


The Walt Disney Family Museum is now open in the Presidio of San Francisco. Many of Walt Disney's descendants live in the San Francisco Bay Area and chose the Presidio as the home for the museum. The Walt Disney Family Museum shows the life and work of Walt Disney.

To learn more about Walt Disney, please come visit the San Francisco Public Library. There are circulating biographies, photographs in the San Francisco Historical Photograph Collection, and San Francisco Examiner newspaper clippings available through the San Francisco History Center. In regards to Disneyland, there are over one hundred photographs of Disneyland and additional color postcards. In the California County Vertical File Collection, the "Anaheim - Disneyland" folder is full of Disneyland ephemera. A Disneyland aficionado would appreciate all of the materials!

The Walt Disney Family Museum presents history within history by being located in one of the Presidio barrack buildings built in the 1890s. The Presidio of San Francisco is part of the Golden Gate National National Recreation Area (GGNRA).
